I have always enjoyed reading Lisa Gardner books however, not this time. This book was just exhausting, plagued by repetitive language and weak supporting characters. The main character being a rogue individual that believed she knew more than the police who really had nothing substantial to offer. The most disappointing part was that it took arriving to page 365 before there was a hint of fast-paced action. And then, the story ends on page 380. I hope if this main character sticks around, she becomes more interesting; and that the plot lines will develop into more depth and much more urgency!
While after the first disc I was ready to return the whole thing, I kept listening and ended up really liking this book; it peaked my interest and after the first disc or so kept it.
Easy to read suspense thriller book--I hope to see more of this character Frankie in the future since her "career" is interesting with traveling all over the country to help find missing people.
This book fell far short of Lisa Gardner's other novels. I've read most everything she has written, but ended up skimming this to get to the end. The theme became too repetitious with very little in between to keep my interest.
I'm apparently in the minority on this one. I've read and enjoyed all of Ms. Gardner's novels to date. Not so with this one. It's hard to sympathize with any of these characters. This is described as a stand alone. Let's hope that is true. We don't need to see Frankie again.
I love Lisa Gardner's books, and this one did not disappoint !! I loved the character, and hope she writes more about her, maybe a series .. Definitely worth the read !!
Lisa Gardner's BEFORE SHE DISAPPEARED is another thriller that is well crafted with an interesting story line and characters. I try not to do spoilers, so I won't. I will say that the early pages where you get acquainted with the heroine of this story is bit slow, but necessary to setting the stage for what happens during the story as well as the "before" backstory - both are essential to what happens as the plot unfolds. Well worth reading the whole book!
Interesting major characters but the mystery that was the subject of the novel did not hold my attention. Really surprised to not like a Lisa Gardner book.
Another good book by Lisa Gardner. This is a new character but I do not believe that this is the last time we see her. She was strong character that was flawed but driven on her task to find missing people. Great read.
I love, love, love Lisa Gardner. I absolutely blow through her books, and I finish them in a matter of just a few days. That being said, I don't think this was her strongest offering. However, I liked Frankie A LOT and would love more books about her. The way this novel ended... there's gotta be more, right? Please?!
"My name is Frankie Elkin and finding missing people is what I do. When the police have given up, when the public no longer remembers, when the media has never bothered to care, I start looking."
I flew through this standalone from Lisa Gardner like I was an elite runner in the Boston Marathon. Frankie is a flawed, but fascinating protagonist. She has come to Boston to help find a missing teenager. This is her fifteenth missing persons case. Maybe this will be the first one she finds alive. Frankie has some intuitive detective skills and is a genius at interrogation. Would love to see another Frankie Elkin book if Gardner should choose to write it.
We have enjoyed Lisa Gardiner's novels immensely . Please order it in audiobook format! Thanks!
