This story is so vivid --I read it when it was 1st published in the late 1980s and I can still picture some of the scenes as if I watched a film-version! I want to re-read it soon; I'm feeling a need to revel in some good magical realism.

One of my all-time favorite books. Powerful, magical, real, engrossing, heartbreaking, lingering in my consciousness long after I finish reading it.
