My memories of that day are crystal clear. Though we live in the middle of the country, we were glued to our television as soon as we heard about the first plane hitting the tower. What happened that day has affected many aspects of our lives and the children born after that day need books like this to give them insights into the tragedy. The four children featured in the story each experience 9/11 in some way, but their immediate family and friends are not victims. This decision by the author makes it accessible for younger readers.
A great tale?
This really intriguing book is about the lives of four different kids, starting 48 hours before the tragic 9/11. Even though they don't know it theirselves, their lives are interwoven together at the end, where they need each other the most. A must read!
What a beautiful written quick snap shot into people's lives. I loved the threads of the individual story lines that never seemed to get tangled yet kept everyone human. It takes you from Sept 9, 10, 11 and then forward a year. Each young person had interesting things happening to them and yet you wait knowing the future. Quick read that have a diverse range of voices. I do wish the aftermath had been discussed a bit more, but that would have definitely turned the book negative. Instead its mentioned but more left to your imaginations. So I understand the slightly ambiguous ending.
