Definitely a modern take on humor and family dynamics but in general very funny for a raunchy family-esque comedy.

Storyline has been used many times, but there are some rather funny scenes. Unfortunately, the use of bad language is so overused that it absolutely ruins the movie. The "excuse" is that the main character has "no filter" ... really ... I'm thinking the writers have no imagination. The "R" rating is correct when it says the movie has "strong language and sexual content throughout." Too bad ... it's so over done that it's mostly "not funny" at all ... just sad.

I found the movie to be entertaining. I have to admit that I did laugh at points. The story line is the typical one where the father meets his precious daughters boyfriend and just hates him. Although this one particular boy is a huge success. Although the boy is a huge video gamer success he has lived in a different world without parents and good roll models so he is off the wall. The boyfriend has no filter and does not actually know proper manners but down deep he is still a decent person. You have to get pass the exterior of this boy and look pass his awkwardness to get to know the real him which the daughter has done. If you want to know more than watch the movie. But there is a lot of swearing in the movie but then again in Beverly Hills cop with Eddie Murphy there was a lot of swearing as well. This is not as funny as Beverly Hills cop.

Hilarious! Excellent view of misunderstanding/conflict between two generations working in the media using different tools: the before internet, and the now internet. This movie is particularly addressed to those who are working in the Hightec's and their relatives, friends..Of course there is a lesson there... It has been a long time that I had laughed so much.

This movie was funny. Alot of swearing though! I like the fact that KISS actually played a part in this movie.

Just not appropriate to watch period! Too much foul profanity and inappropriate scenes. Why can't movies be like back in the 50's and 60's? Clean humor that made you laugh and put a smile on your face.

Regrettably Bryan Cranston has reverted to his TV sitcom level of acting in this film. He has one over-riding emotion in this film i.e. angst, and it gets really long in the tooth rather early on in this film. Regrettably, I cannot say I have watched this film in its entirety as I spent too much time fast forwarding through its many cringe-worthy scenes. I believe, I laughed once during the indeterminable experience and feel that even if I was of the target audience demographic, I certainly would not have felt this to have been worth the time spent. It is certainly not worth watching for anyone with half a brain, past the age of puberty. In no way would I recommend it for anyone less then puberty given the dialog and situations either. So - should you bother - to watch it? Is your IQ substantially less then average?

Most good fun quotes have "offensive" language. So, slim picking:

Well, I'm almost done, so, maybe you want to come over and Netflix and chill and...
Mom: It's a paperless house, darling.
Dad: I got that. But how am I supposed to complete my business?
Gustav: Well, all Japanese toilets have a very effective and pleasant cleaning spray. And I will be very happy to walk you through the entire process.
Dad: Oh, god.
What I wanted was for us to spend Christmas in California together like I planned, before everything went to shxt because you made it all about yourself.
You both did.
-I did?
Yes! You idiots think you can pass me back and forth like I'm your property or something? I'm done. This is the worst Christmas ever.
Dad: We've been members of the kiss army for, like, 30 years now. Yeah. Our first date was the crazy nights tour.
Mom: Yeah! And, boy, was that crazy. Crazy.
Kiss: Did you get laid?
Mom: Um... I gave him a xxyyzz.
