Wow. This was fresh & fascinating -- a terrific book. Loved it.

There's a lot going on in here and the book travels back & forth in time to fill in both the past & present story lines. Cool imagery, fascinating characters, intriguing plot, & great writing. I definitely plan to read the remaining two books in the trilogy (which says a lot). It completely sucked me in & held my interest (a major feat in this weird year).

A great science fiction read! Tade Thompson was able to drop us into this futuristic world and almost immediately you felt like you were there. Relatable characters that were flawed but still sympathetic. I enjoyed going on this journey with Kaaro and can't wait for the next installment!

It's a very interesting read but I am unsure if I liked it as the protagonist is sort of a jerk. Then again, the world around him has become strange with alien fungi, so maybe it's not him. I do like reading the sci-fi out of Nigeria - what a breath of fresh air and new ideas.
