From 1958 to 1963, American actor Rick Dalton knew the height of fame and fortune as the lead in the television series Bounty Law. Yet, Rick wasn't satisfied with the work and used his popularity to try to become a movie star. By 1969, Rick's career has stalled so much that he takes jobs as a guest star on various shows. He even starts wondering if the only way he can make a comeback is by acting in Italian productions. Cliff Booth, Rick's long-time friend and stunt double, helps him see that possibilities for success still exist in the Los Angeles film industry if they work together.

Long and pointless.

Drugs, alcohol, mental disorder, narcissism, friendship.
As a director and writer Tarantino can channel his personal feeling through his movie.
To me this movie is an outdated 2019 movie and beating around the bush. Rather boring and pointless, what’s left to watch is Leonardo and Brad Pitt’s performances.

Entertaining film. Brad deserved his Oscar.

A very entertaining movie. Just like the Title implies...it is a fairy tale for entertainment.

I love Quentin Tarantino and his movies. The cast of this film is great. But I just could not connect with this movie, sad to say. I really felt there wasn't a point to it. Maybe I need to rewatch, but I felt a lot of this movie was a waste of time.

Before watching the movie we read the ratings and we are glad we did because we recognize many people do not understand Tarantino. After watching "Kill Bill" I called my daughter and complained about it and after she explained his style I have been a fan and have watched them all. This is a period movie that most likely will appeal to the older crowed. We are in our 70's and found this to be a walk down memory lane and to add delight it was a Tarantino movie with all his twist and turns. Love the way southern California was in the 50' and 60' and we most likely will watch this movie again.

I loved the once upon a time theme played out in turning a hollywwod movie like tragedy into an almost accidental heroic act by a couple of almost has been actors and their dog. It was a total fantasy from start to its over the Tarantino top blood bath ending. I thought Dicaprio and Pitt were excellent in their portrayals of a TV star and his stunt double living a kind of winding down high life. The sets were outstanding and so much imagination went into each storyline. I loved the cameos especially Damien Lewis's portrayal of Steve McQueen. The soundtrack was great too. A definite big five stars for me even though it shows 4 1/2 it is meant to be five!

Wow, not really what I was expecting. I'm a big Tarantino fan but this was not worth the long, slow trip to a gory finish. Enjoyed seeing familiar faces in cameos but overall it's disappointing.

I'm a fan of Brad Pitt but his acting wasn't really anything Oscar worthy. In fact, other than DiCaprio's actor woes, I don't really understand what was the point of the movie.

Overated movie for oscar nomination. Brad Pitt did desrve his oscar. Guess I am not a fan of Tarentino style of movie!

Bruce Lee: You're the one with the big mouth, and I would really enjoy closing it, especially in front of all my friends. But my hands are registered as lethal weapons. That means, we get into a fight, I accidentally kill you? I go to jail.

Cliff Booth: Anybody accidentally kills anybody in a fight, they go to jail. It's called manslaughter. I think all that lethal weapon horseshit is just an excuse so you dancers never have to get in a real fight.

46 quotes posted in IMDb already. Thanks to its contributors. The best lines come from the brilliant little woman Trudi Fraser (Julia Butters):

I believe it's the job of an actor - and I say actor, not actress because the word actress is nonsensical - it's the actor's job to avoid impediments to their performance. It's the actor's job to strive for one hundred percent effectiveness. Naturally, we never succeed, but it's the pursuit..that's meaningful.
That was the best acting I've ever seen in my whole life.
-Thank you.
I don't like names like 'Pumpkin Puss'... but since you're upset, we'll talk about it some other time.
***If you want more of the wise-beyond-her-years Trudi, watch one of the deleted scenes when Trudi welcomes her two step-brothers (Timothy Olyphant as James Stacy and Luke Perry as Wayne Maunder) who have just ridden in town from a wagon.
