Fun, campy take on Agatha Christie genre. People who think it’s too political, ugh, really ought to lighten up and get out more and stop yelling at their TeeVee. Maybe you didn’t notice how much caricature there was in this genre film? Anyhow, fun film, this family with a 12 year old boy, 14 yo girl, grandma and parents all enjoyed it. Fun ensemble—especially enjoyed Toni Colette and Jamie lee Curtis, of course Christopher Plummer, and Daniel Craig’s accent was a hoot, bless his heart.

Entertaining family mystery/drama.

This movie is a salute to Christie . That being said , it certainly has its flaws . A perfect Latina who can’t lie, how convenient. The political talk is a little on the nose . But is a lot of fun . Chris Evans cozy sweaters , ridiculous accent by Craig . If a movie has a whole cast of a list actors it usually sucks , but this one pulled it off by being charming . Even though not the most original movie of the year , we were due for a proper mystery for a long time.

My dad used to say that even from the worst movie you can learn something.
It hasn't happened yet.
Critical and commercial success. Overwhelmingly praised here. Manhola Dargis seems skeptical and that fruit based movie site has only one negative review:
'It’s a film for non-mystery fans looking for something mildly diverting while actual genre fans may feel disappointed at not getting the level of cleverness they expect. It’s a police procedural television show for the masses, a concoction that demands its audience perceive it as being clever and inventive while being anything but'.
A sequel was being planned.

Since I've seen nearly every version of every Agatha Christie story ever made, you might say that I love the genre. I've also loved Clue, Murder by Death, and all the other spoofs.
This was above average, but not a masterpiece. Certainly an amusing take-off on familiar themes.
But, then, aren't all mysteries variations on the theme?
Did enjoy the call-back to Sleuth, though.

I thought the movie was fun! If one takes these types of films too seriously or reads too much into them I can see where they'd not enjoy watching. I will admit that I could have done without the vomit scenes as I have not ever been one for gross-out bathroom humor but over all ~ suspending all disbelief ~ had a good time watching this film. It actually was better the second time around!! One other note: I thought it quite lovely to include a clip from "Murder, She Wrote" ~ an homage to a well-worn also fun though completely unbelievable series that ran for 12 years!! (Plus I thought Daniel Craig butchered the Southern accent ... I being born and raised in Atlanta, GA ... but I do believe that was kind of the point. Good on casting!!)

This movie is horrible. The story is lame and boring. They give away who did it in the first half hour, and who cares what happens after that. It’s also annoying. Annoying characters and acting. Poorly written and directed. Rian Johnson is a horrid writer and director.

Worth it just to hear Daniel Craig (James Bond) with a southern accent and to see him, shirt sleeves rolled up in suspenders and oh-so-trim waist unraveling the plot. See previous comment. What appears to younger viewers as atmospheric will be annoyingly dim for seniors (turn the bloody lights on!) But there's senior Miami Vice Don Johnson who still has his handsome face and fit bod at 70. And Christopher Plummer masterful!

Wonderful cast, writing, sets. The director, Rian Johnson, claims he wanted to create along the lines of Hitchcock, but I found the film more along the lines of Agatha Christie. A lot of melodrama with humor and plot twists. The lighting is very well done as there are a lot of stuffed chair heavy velvets and dark wood interiors. Sets the mood very well. I would have preferred to see some outdoor shots with full sun as the darker shots started to bother me. I think the contrast of the two kinds of set-ups would have added to the film. Kind of like the full sun shots would add to the reality of the situation and given eye relief to the darker sets. None the less, well done & worth the watch.

Ruined by political propaganda. Boring biased story line. Took what could have been a great movie and try to push an agenda. I wanted to be entertained not have political views crammed down my throat. I could have just watched the news... . What a waste of time!

"I spoke in the car about the hole at the center of this doughnut. And yes, what you and Harlan did that fateful night seems at first glance to fill that hole perfectly. A doughnut hole in the doughnut's hole. But we must look a little closer. And when we do, we see that the doughnut hole has a hole in its center - it is not a doughnut hole at all but a smaller doughnut with its own hole, and our doughnut is not a hole at all!"

28 quotes in IMDb and they are all good. Thanks to its contributors. There are no doubt a few more memorable depending on one's interest. e.g.

One thing I assume of age is weariness. Damned if I don't get more tired every day. Tired of what I do. Following arcs like lobbed rocks, the inevitability of truth. But the complexity and the gray lie not in the truth but what you do with the truth once you have it.
