Adapted from the beloved literary classic, this is the story of Buck, a big-hearted dog whose blissful domestic life is turned upside down when he is suddenly uprooted from his California home and transplanted to the exotic wilds of the Alaskan Yukon during the Gold Rush of the 1890s. As the newest rookie on a mail delivery dog sled team, and later its leader, Buck experiences the adventure of a lifetime, ultimately finding his true place in the world and becoming his own master.

3.5* ok movie. A little cheesy with animated dogs. But the Alaskan scenery breathtaking. I like it.

.
Really good.
.
For the most part the dogs look realistic, only a few instances where the CGI was lacking.

Once you get accustomed to the way Buck looks (oversized through technology), it's a wonderful story and one that most families will enjoy. Beautiful scenery and a great story of love and faithfulness.

A computer generated dog. Really?
A bit sappy and melodramatic. Not to mention the producers caved into marketing analysis and popular zeitgeist to rewrite a great American tale, making it nice and palatable for broad tastes and modern sensibilities.
Sorry, this is a cheapened version of this Jack London classic. Not sure he would approve.
Recommend: The Clark Gable version. Or...
Better yet, read the book to your kids.

2020. G rated. A fun family adaptation adventure movie of the 1890 Yukon gold rush Jack London story. Excellent animal & Yukon outdoor scenes by green screen & CGI. The main dog character 'Buck' has human intuition, judgement & reasoning. Under 12 kids will like this. Part Lion King 'simba' growing up.
