I love Fannie Flagg stories. They are so humorous. Mrs. Elner Shimfissle is quite the character. There is also messages like friendship. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes funny stories and quirky characters.

Such a great, funny book. You have to love the characters and the story. Death and God are dealt with in a less-than-biblical way, so if that matters to you, take it with a grain of salt and accept it as the comedy that it is.

3rd title in the series of Fannie Flagg's Elmwood Springs series of 4 titles novels thru yr 2016.
1st title in series is Welcome to the World, Baby Girl!
2nd title is Standing in the Rainbow

Fannie Flagg wrote the book Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe...made into the famous popular movie. Flagg also has many other novels. Popular.

Flagg is quite a wonderful storyteller, capturing people's characters and actions in the kind light of understated truth, humor, actions.
Set in Missouri. Small town. Elmwood Springs.
Strong relationships; much communication; etc. flowing dialogue.

And so, this story that includes the influence of heaven ... upon living.....

A radio program in Heaven? - Funny, entertaining, and strangely comforting for those who seek understanding about the after life. Fanny Flagg is always funny with her own brand of story telling,. This story about a small town community that is rocked by the passing of a neighborhood elder, but wait she didn't die. Instead she lives to tell the tale about death and what happens next in the after life. Can't Wait To Get To Heaven one of the few books we agreed on as terrific! For all those who love to read this one's hard to put down!

Elner Shimfissle has no idea how old she is - her younger sister, Ida, buried the family Bible with that information to keep her own age a secret. Ida's daughter Norma Warren look after Elner. Elner is stung by a swarm of wasps and falls out of her fig tree. Thinking her dead, the town is shaken and everyone begins to look at their own lives in relationship to how Elner played a role in their lives. Five hours after her 'death' Elner is sitting up telling Norma a tall tale of the hereafter.

A lovely life well-lived and hope for life beyond as created by Fannie Flagg was a fun & happy reading experience.

I read this book a few years ago, but have never forgot it. It left a fine mist of sweetness around my heart. I had to make an effort to put it down. It`s intriguing and her characters are people most of us have known sometime in our lives. Fannie Flagg writes with humour, honesty and love. I`ve read everything she`s written and only can hope she`ll write more!!!
