Excellent book for fun reading or research! I appreciate that its overview of history of Africa, including tribe/Kingdom names over the centuries, with maps of where Western Africa where most slaves were stolen for the slave trade in America and elsewhere. This is key information to know for African-American genealogy. Sadly most Americans don't have a grasp of African history or how and when its shifting boundaries were set. Colonization throwing unrelated tribes together and dividing others who are related made for arbitrary country boundaries after World War I. Illustrations make it clear and the text is interesting for any adult reader or student researcher. Find this large hard-cover book in the OVERSIZED BOOKS section or perhaps pulled out separately on a shelf for African-American history month.
