I was 600th in line waiting for this book! It wasn't worth the wait in most respects. An unbelievable and contrived story and main character. For me the saving grace was the descriptions of the marsh environment - I have spent lots of time in South Carolina's Lowcountry observing the birds, plants, animals, swamps. The author describes this special fragile ecosystem extremely well, she is after all a respected animal behaviorist. But, if you're not into nature study, there's not much else to recommend in this book.
